Your UnionWhat is a Students' Union?

The Students Union is made up of students, like you, who volunteer to represent students and make life on campus even better! Every student enrolled on a Coleg Gwent course is automatically a member of the students’ union unless they chose to opt-out.

We can help you to set up clubs and societies on campus, we have money to spend on social events, and most importantly; if you have a problem then we have a problem! We are here to speak up for you!

Some of the Students’ Union past successes and activities:

Have represented students who have complaints about the college.

Have aired students’ views to college staff and to NUS (National Union of Students).

Across college the Students Union campaigned for sanitary provision to be provided in at least one toilet on each campus.

A Christmas Party every year.

Cross-college transport surveys, given to the contracted Bus companies, and improvements have been made to the transport as a result.

Various fund-raising events.

Theme Park Trips.

Got involved in student/class complaints and helped them through the complaints procedure.

Met with college management to improve recycling facilties.

We are looking for enthusiastic and pro-active students to join the Students’ Union.

If you are outspoken and confident or would like to improve your confidence and make friends then you should join the Students’ Union. If you ever find yourself moaning about the college or just feeling bored of the usual, then get involved in the Students’ Union or sit on one of the Committees/start a club!

Being a Students’ Union Officer looks great on a CV or University Application; lots of people will have your qualification . . . Make sure you have the edge over them by getting involved!

Being on the Students’ Union is being part of a team who help and support each other and everyone has the same goal of improving life for students.

If you want to get involved or would like more information take a look at our constitution or:
